Nifty Bank suffers minor loss; Federal Bank plunges over 11%


The Nifty Bank index settled 0.09 per cent down at 26,131 on Thursday. 

Federal BankNSE -11.62 % (down 11.47 per cent), IDFC Bank (down 4.07 per cent) and Bank of BarodaNSE -3.92 % (down 3.98 per cent) finished as the top losers in the Nifty Bank index. 

Punjab National Bank (down 1.88 per cent), YES BankNSE -0.92 % (down 1.34 per cent), Kotak Mahindra BankNSE -0.29 % (down 0.50 per cent), Axis BankNSE -0.15 % (down 0.45 per cent), State Bank of IndiaNSE -0.02 % (down 0.36 per cet) and IndusInd BankNSE 0.33 % (down 0.32 per cent) also settled in the red. 

However, shares of RBL Bank (up 0.43 per cent), HDFC BankNSE 0.72 % (up 0.35 per cent) and ICICI BankNSE 0.02 % (up 0.07 per cent) closed the day in the green. 

Indian equity benchmarks closed Thursday's session in the negative terrain on across the board selling, led by IT, pharma and auto stocks, amid mixed global cues 

The BSE Sensex finished day's trading 73 points, or 0.21 per cent, lower at 35,246, with only 9 stocks advancing and 22 declining. 

In the Nifty index, 15 stocks settled in the green, whereas 35 in the red. The index settled 25 points, or 0.23 per cent down at 10,717. 

Overall, 108 stocks hit 52-week lows on NSE, compared with 18 stocks that touched their 52-week highs.
